Sylvias Red Beans & Rice

Queen of soul food. Just add sausage. Way back when I was a small girl, my grandmother used to grow her own rice. After picking it, grandma and mama would remove the brown chaff by beating the rice until it came clean and white. It was hard work and it took all day, but at the end, they would get enough rice for us to use all winter long. The first dish my mother ever taught me to make was rice. Rice, you see, was and still is a very important part of South Carolinian cooking. One way we all love to eat rice is to cook it with vegetables to add color and flavor. This recipe uses our Sylvia's seasonings and delicious red beans to make a fabulous side dish to serve with just about anything. - Love, Sylvia. Already cooked. Heat and eat.
